§ 201Fired or laid off
Paid in full, immediately
If you’re fired, all the wages you’ve earned are due immediately, at the time you’re let go, not on the next payday. A layoff without a return date in the same pay period counts as a discharge, so the same rule applies. And if you gave notice but were told to leave early, your quit becomes a discharge: everything you earned is due right then. A few industries have their own layoff timing, such as motion picture production, oil drilling and seasonal food processing; ask us if that’s your work.
